My Projects

"Valmir was always a very strong contributor, often going above and beyond. He took on a leadership role throughout the project during planning meetings with the TA and Instructor. Overall, a very strong teammate and I'd gladly work with him again.""Widely considered the leader of the group — a large part of our success is attributed to Val's leadership. Despite a busy term, Val consistently put in work managing the team, finding information, developing solutions and satisfaction criteria. I'm very glad to have Val in the group.""Valmir has done an excellent job keeping the team organized and on track, taking initiative to manage our schedule, book meetings, and lead progress updates. His work on the presentation slides was exceptional — very polished and professional — and recognized by Dr Pete and the TAs for standing out." Mini Cooper Upgrades

Repair & Restoration
Front Suspension Replacement
BilsteinStruts
2,500 kmRoad Test
SoloBuild
Why

Right front strut seal failed, leaking fluid, compromising damping and risking uneven tire wear. Chose DIY over BMW dealer to learn the system and hand-pick quality components.

Process

Lifted on jack stands, removed wheel, disconnected brake line and ABS wire, unbolted strut-to-knuckle and tower mount. Compressed coil spring safely and swapped to new Bilstein, reusing the OEM spring for factory ride height.

Result

Validated on a Lethbridge → Whistler road trip through Montana, Idaho, and Washington. Noticeably better damping across highways and mountain passes, with no vibrations and no instability.

Interior Repair
Door Handle Disassembly
0Broken Clips
No PartsNeeded
SoloBuild
Why

Interior door handle stopped functioning. Rather than replacing the assembly, I diagnosed the root cause — a failed cable clip and incorrect routing — to attempt a no-parts repair.

Process

Carefully removed all door trim without breaking clips, fully disassembled the handle mechanism, identified the failed cable routing and clip seat, and corrected the assembly.

Result

Handle restored to full function with zero new parts required and zero broken clips on reassembly. Clean repair done entirely through methodical disassembly and diagnosis.

Mini Projects

Folding Knife Prototype

Designed and modelled a folding knife from scratch as a manufacturing class project. First exposure to GD&T — produced a full drawing package with proper tolerancing and callouts for machined fabrication.
